Gender Affirmation Project
The Trans-ilience Research Lab is proud to partner with Allen Neighborhood Center and the MSU Triangle Bar Association to present the Gender Affirmation Project, a program that provides financial and practical assistance to transgender and nonbinary folks in Ingham County seeking to update their legal name and/or gender marker.
Adrienne Sulma (she/they) is a graduate student at Western Michigan University's PhD in Counseling Psychology program. They graduated from University of Miami with a MSEd in Community and Social Change (2016) and Marquette University with a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2023). They previously worked in research and program evaluation capacities in government and university settings for behavioral health and public health needs. They particularly enjoy implementing mixed-method designs and considerations for interdisciplinary perspectives. Their research interests include the well-being of gender expansive youth and parents, affirmative therapy, multicultural counseling, and reducing secondary stress among affirming parents of gender expansive youth. In their spare time, Adrienne enjoys spending time with their family, hiking, and playing video games.
